Visuals would be similar as well, as would the fluid retention abilities.

I had a good thrash around Wiltshire/Berkshire today on my mates KTM 990SM, he on my X1. He could appreciate the Buell ............but by f**k, I loved the KTM

Before you buy an RC8 ask the dealer about the cost of the first service for a start.
In addition the RC8 has had its share of problems as well as the 1125R.
I test rode most of the big Sports bikes before I bought my 09 1125R back in the late summer of 08 and am still very pleased with the bike overall.

Do you really want chain final drive?

Yes they are equally matched........I won't touch either with a barge pole.

2001-2003 RSV-R
SP2
Ducati 998 (as your only little)

I'd probably go 1198 rather than RC8

Quite alot seem to have issues with the KTM, I also think the looks will date quickly. But it was a damn good first try in the superbike arena ....

PS I have a KTM 950SM
and a 998s

And it is the KTM that gets ridden most, followed by the BMW GS ....

In what respect ?

In stock trim and a long straight road I would expect the RC8 to win - if not for the more powerful engine then at least the aerodynamics. Plus the 1125R's 'noid can be annoying - but at least that is easy to disconnect and still leaves the bike "stock".

But in the twistys I think the 1125R may still have an advantage.

Living with one on a day to day basis, congested traffic, commuting etc I would prefer the Buell to the all out "arse in the air" RC8 - and as for carrying a passenger the RC8 looks even worse than the 1125R.

Price ? No contest, the Buell is much cheaper to buy - I have no idea on parts and servicing for RC8s though - but we know Buell aren't cheap.

As for the reliability, neither are fault free, but the Buell ones tend to be more niggles than real mechanical problems, dodgy indicators, rotting exhausts, etc as opposed to serious gearbox woes, etc ...

And as for tuning/aftermarket goodies then the RC8 wins hands down. :(
