What is my choice of huggers for an X1 (swinging arm)?

I have what I think is a standard one, but it is fat and wide, nowhere near as beautiful and svelte as the S1 hugger (the short one)... Surely there must be something better for a 170 tyre...

I've got the Buell cf one on the Handbag, although I think it's pretty much the same design as the standard hugger.

You know it, and take the lugs off.

Nope. Anything that prevents a bike (particularly as they get older) from being returned to standard devalues it by the cost to fix it.
The hugger may not do a very good job of keeping the back of the bike clean but it does make a difference. I've run mine with and without and while I agree it looks better without I wouldn't buy one with lugs removed without factoring in the cost of a new swingarm.

So says the man who bought a yellow M2.

Sometimes I use my bike with a pasenger.
I wouldn't even consider removing the hugger or guards because of this.

Only if you took your glasses off.
You could spot them a mile off by the rusty downpipes.

I think we're in danger of derailing this thread, however, that particular problem was alleviated by a tip from Spen, an occasional application of stove blacking :yup:

And is the reason i'll not be removing mine ...the hugger prevents a passenger getting feet in the rear wheel.
