DDFI-3 has large areas that apparently hold turbo charging control data.

We were deep into turbo research and pre-production testing for turbo bikes and made it all the way through our full durability testing with two pre-prod bikes. However, the project was killed by H-D leadership. So after we knew it was dead and gone for good, we plugged up both sides of the hole and added fuel capacity back. I think that happened around 2005. We were not using the Garret, but a variable turbo with an ECU controlled boost level. 150+ RWHP and 120+ ft-lbs torque with full durability, emissions and noidse compliant. They were cool as hell.

Would be interesting to see if Erik considered the reliability ... would have been an amazing machine if it was!

bikerdude666 - if you have a xb your asking alot from your engine already the thing is a time bomb- and putting more load on your belt drive for a starters would be a no go,but its your motor, if you want to get more power i would get a polished head - get the engine balanced properly - increase the bore ??? id dont know and if you dont like the reverso then make your own ???

but how much extra power would polished heads etc give, ive already got a micron serpent system and am happy with that, will try anything (as and when i can afford it) to get more power out of it,

Turbo's if done correctly can give a lot of extra power and in some respect with less stress on certain engine components ...whether the transmission can take it then time will only tell.

For more info on a turbo, here is an older post on Buelletin Board from the guy set up his bike with a turbo - he is the one who contacted Erik about it and received that reply.
