How easy and costly is it to convert a 9R to 9s ?

is it just a case of a new seat and remove the front cowel and get 2 new headlights?

cheers

No. The electrickery is behind the fairing on an R and under the seat on an S.

It can still be done, though, just not quite as easy as you suggest.

The Lightning has a different seat subframe compared to the Firebolts, so as Norm said it's not as simple as it may first appear.

You could retain the Firebolt fairing and fit a Lightning seat though - that would require less work. You could also fit more upright bars - there are top yoke conversion kits out there.

There's a very good reason for that.....9R's were very early models and you'd be buying a world of pain IMO.

If you dont own either yet, do yerself a favour and check out the early tube frame models....pref a 2001 X1

Many conversions seem to suffer from broken wires around the stearing head, installing a S wire harness looks like a good recommendation.
