A lot of negative comments about Silverstone Harley Davidson - Towcester?
Anyone know why? :|

IMO, because the dealer principle is more worried about volumes and profits than about the people who ride the bikes.

Difficult to quantofy in the last few months but:-
1) :D got me a recall shock
2) hadn't got a fucking clue that Buells use metric on suspension !! Rounds the bolts off nicely !!

More tractor orientated than you would hope

I can only speak of my experience - been there several times - its a standard HD dealership - couple of really friendly guys who are always helpful and keen on Buell's - plus the usual HD "w*&%$ers".

Couple of shelves and small rack of clothing and never more than half a dozen bike including demonstrators. Not as aggressive price wise or as focused as say for example Blackbear.

The guys were kind enough to adjust my M2 belt for free one Saturday morning.

I understand the owner Cliff - who was a "BIG" guy in the city - bought and ran this as a dream vocation as he is a keen HD rider - but he also rides an XT.

I also have heard of some UKBEG members having problems but these were more to do with the bikes themselves - Anders for one would be a good person to hear from.

so........IME........."good performance but could try a little harder" -

Hope this helps

I had thought of writing a book on oil loss and the CR
Seriously though when I brought my cr as a few of you know I had a few problems (big oil leak) Silverstone though were on the ball and got me a replacement bike till mine could be repaired, I supose any dealer would do this though. As they could not find any cause for the leak after 4 weeks, I said I wanted a new bike as I wouldn`t be able to trust the old one. They ordered it and I got my new one soon after, had the loan bike till then. They or HD refunded money for jeans and boots that the oil knackered and knocked 50% off the exhaust, powerizer and filter :yup: I can only speak of my own experience as FEI-LO said but I found them OK.
It was a good job it wasn`t one of these new cheap CRs who knows what would have happened   :headbang:

Bought my 'R' from Silverstone, all very helpful and good price. I trailored the bike home and went out on my first ride on it the following week.

Handled like poop, so i went home and gave it a check over, Silverstone told me it had been PDI'd and an oil change had been carried out. The front wheel bearing had 2-3 mm movement in all directions, the rear caliper had seized, i fail to see how the inspection had been carried out and i had my doubts on the oil being fresh. A couple of months later i still havn't received the spare key they were forwarding to me as it had been miss placed at the dealership.

It was all repaired under warrenty by my local dealer in Canterbury as Silverstone were a good couple of hours away. unfortunatly this experiance just confirmed my predictions about most dealers, i have always done my own work and will continue to do so.

Dave and Jules at NVT are ..............BIG Buell fans   - and all round good people :yup: :yup: ..............at last count they had 8 Buell's themselves - tubers and XB's .........so you cant go far wrong.

From my allbeit limited personal experience - always provide good knowledgable service and are reasonably priced .......but I havent had a lot done

Spook and Boilertroll would be good people to hear from as I understand they have had a lot of work done.

cheers

Thanks for all your help guys.

Spoke to some Hardly riders today who also rate Northants V-Twin, so will be dropping in for a chat with them. No offence to the other good workshops, but these are closest. Which is Nice! :|

With a name like Montague De Bomfrey I'm sure Steve Loxton at Black Bear would add a glass of Pimm's to one's complimentary donut...........
