Post subject:  Luggage for the 1125r??

Guys, I'm going to get rid of the Aprilia early next year and I'm planning to buy a sportsbike. Options are Buell 1125r, Ducati 999, Aprilia RSV-R. Not so sure about the Duke. I really like it but I get the impression that they are a bit fragile. Not sure whether there's any truth in it. The RSV-R is beginning to look a bit dated as well and I might as well buy another Buell!! :yup:

Now, does anyone know whether luggage is available for the 1125r? I know its not your typical sports-tourer but I wouldn't mind taking it on longer journeys to camp, so I'll need plenty of luggage capacity. I'm quite happy to build my own rack, just as I did with the Aprilia. So if nothing's available I just find some nice cases from another bikes and adapt them in a tasteful manner. Any thoughts?

Ha! looks like somebody else already had the same idea and built their own luggage racks: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/m ... 1213799586

That really works. If the welds were cleaner it would look like it was a factory option. Actually makes the side pods look small.

What sort of luggage are you offering as a swap?

Obviously I say get a 1125r but don't discount the Ducati. Do belts and oil when you should and the Duc motor is pretty bombproof (the later, the better). I know of some with very high miles and they're still running strong. Looks are ok too, I really like bikes you can spit through :yup: :D

As for luggage, 2 throw over panniers, rucksac/tent across pillion and a tank bag. How much Make Up do you need for a week away?
