To further enhance the long distance touring capabilities of our Ulysses we'd thought of buying a Squire motorcycle trailer.

Their web site: http://www.watsonian-squire.com/trailer_range.htm

We rather fancy the D10 model, although the D21 looks as though it will easily cover all our requirements.

Thinking about it, if we went for the D21 model we could use it for UKBEG events and bring T-shirts, banners and all sorts of stuff along.

Has anyone fitted a towing bracket to a fuel-framed Buell and what was the result?

Did it affect the handling?

Should we go for a colour matched trailer (Thrust Blue) or stick with plain gloss white?

:o

Looking at the details, the D10 has the highest Max Load weight. Although the D10 is half the volume of the D21, it is also half the price. Are you looking to carry heavy stuff of large stuff?

I'd be interested to hear what effect 150kg (fully laden limit) hanging off the back of any bike would have. That's going to be adding 50% to the weight of the vehicle, which must have an impact on braking etc, whatever they say about the handling being "not significantly different to that of a normal solo motorcycle".

And, still, :o :o

You coud carry a lot of doughnuts in one of them.

I'm more looking forward to the "How to fit a towbar to your Uly" in Pash's "How to" section or maybe :maz: will start a fitting service? :D

Some good points raised there - thanks.

I'm not sure about the strength of the alloy seat subframe and footrest plates on the Ulysses - perhaps the S1 with its steel frame would be better for towing duties?

Should I move this topic to technical?

Not unless you have something to transport it with Chris.

Why not buy a bike trailer?

I'd think that the effect of the trailer behind the short wheelbase of the S1 will be significant. The XT would be far better suited for towing duties.

There... I've said it... a Fueller might be better than a Tuber for something!

Why restrict yourself to just a trailer. This sidecar is a fully functioning boat and has a small matching caravan trailer too.
I had a Ural combination when I worked on the Thames Barrier, good laugh but not as nice as this one.

With a trailer you are restricted to 60 kph in Germany. But how about this:

Won't work with a Buell, but with allmost every other bike, e.g. a Guzzi:

I expect you'll soon be asking about the best track tyres for a Goldwing, or where you can go green laning on an Electrawidebobfatglide :? :P

I used to tow a trailer behind a electra glide ,i then cut the trailer hitch shorter so the trailer was closer to the bike looked good but then handled like a bag of crap...good for camping though....
