Right - first of all security at nght is fairly good - metal shed thing, double reinforced wooden garden/car gates. Then security gates to access drive way to the back of the house. The bike is then locked using a chain and ancor point big padlock and an alarm disc lock. During the day thought its just an alarm disc lock at work. Thinking of getting an alarm fitted. A is it worth it? B what should I get? If the answer to a is yes. |

If it is a Buell you're talking about, I'd suggest leaving the keys in the ignition. |

I had to have an alarm fitted courtesy of my insurer. I have the latest data tool. Has falsely gone off a few times even when a light breeze passes. Went off in my garage one evening for no reason also! Can be a a right pita when you stop/start like refueling cause you have to keep disarming it. If you can live with that then it's ok and one more thing to deter opportunists and one less thing to carry with you IE disc lock. |

If you really must have an alarm, DO NOT consider a Datatool, they're dogshit. Check out Meta or Spyball. |

Through choice I wouldn't have one, I've seen so many after market alarms go wrong. |

greasemonkey wrote: from what I've deduced, Buells are only ever going to be nicked to be parted out, chavs and oppertunists are only going to be interested in R1's and Blades, which would probably mean a tranny van an' a couple of heftys, also a degree of planning involved, as Buells get thinner on the ground so-to-speak over the coming years, it may become a problem ? Nicked for the engines IMO. Maybe other parts as well. |

Was at a hotel at the 'Ring a few years ago with an Ss. Following morning went out to find the police in the car park with a lot of very unhappy looking British bikers. Truck had pulled up during the night and taken a Ducati and five Jap litre bikes and 600s. One guy had only had his Blade for a week - he'd run it in and had it serviced in record time to get it ready for the Ring. All had alarms. All were locked. My Ss was sitting there untouched - no alarm, no lock. I felt smug and embarrassed all at once Had Meta and Datatool alarms on assorted big Aprilias. The Meta ones were ok, the Datatool System 3 was dreadful. Al PS - By Ss, I mean the Lightning Long. Not some Nazi officer. |
