My xb12r is now 6 years old with 5500 miles and now thinking of changing it , maybe to a year old ish triumph speed triple or even a street triple. Or would I be better off keeping the buell ? I Dont fancy a jap bike either.

If you're only doing 1,466 miles a year, do you actually need a bike at all :?: :?

Might not need a bike but probably wants a bike.
Whether it's 500 miles a year or 10,000 miles a year doesn't really matter, it's better than zero miles a year! :)

Hi,

Look at it this way:

Do I like riding the Buell - does it make me smile every time i ride it? If the answer is "yes" then why do you want to sell it?

Look at the number of people that have sold their Buell and then bought another one, just because anything else "just isn't a Buell".

You may not use your Triumph warrenty quite as much as your Buell warrenty but you will use it, and it will be for niggly electrical things like the fuel light being permanently on or your speedo not working.

A Street Trip isn't bad value at a shade over 6k for a brand new bike, but an 1125 is a far better deal. If you do go down the Triumph route, Bulldog in Twyford are a decent dealer.

916 miles a year?

There was a time where I was doing 1k miles a month. Doesn't really matter though. If the seed of change is planted, then you're unlikely to change your mind.

Solution=try another Buell. I know I will be :)

His need for a bike is not a great as your need for a calculator.

Keep the Buell or get a KTM.

It's a write-off.
Keep it and buy another bike

Post subject:  Re: Change my bike?

the reason for low miles is i now only restrict my self to a 2 hour blast on a sunday and the rest of my spare time is spent doing the family thing which i also love doing , for me its trying to keep the balance right as i have a 3 year old girl which i enjoy being with.
Just spent an hour cleaning the bike with my girl and it still looks a good bike so might just keep it and save up some cash for when it will cost more to repair than the bike is worth to me and get a new bike then.

Well maybe nothing's as important as your family, but at 5500 miles your XB is only just run in! If I was in your quandery I'd put the Buell away in the shed on paddock stands for a few weeks turning the back wheel weekly to spread oil round the output shaft bearings. Then I'd have demo rides on the Speed and Street Triples to see which was best. After that I'd sleep on it then get back on my Buell and see what I was missing! ;)

I've just got a brand new Tuono and it is awsome. Took it in for it's 600 mile service this morning leaving it there all weekend. Took my Buell out for a blast this morning and it puts a bigger smile on my face than anything. I know I'm going to regret it when I sell it but it does have to go.
Trying to talk my girlfriend into letting me keep it.
If I was you I would keep your Buell it us the best bike for a Sunday blast and just enjoy it.
