Im at the point of needing to replace the rear wheel bearings on the xb9 (bastards failed today). What are the recommended methods for lifting the rear wheel off the ground to remove the rear axle and then wheel? Also is it worth changing the fronts at the same time? Thanks Andrew |

Micron paddock stand for the rear... I have a front paddock stand for the front that slots into the steerer tube, the Micron front lifts on the bottom for the forks... Bearings are cheap (fiver each) so you may aswell do the fronts at the same time... Micron have gone bust, but you can still get the stands on EBay... |

ON XB's be very careful when using any front stand that lifts using pins in the holes in the bottom of the forks......if the pin is to long it will damage the thread on the wheel spindle which in turn will trash the fork bottom when you try to remove the damaged axle. |

I recomend a fragmentation grenade  Sorry dude, having a bad xb day  Watch out on a front stand cos the fork legs are different lengths! I manage anyway but I have to be carefull. Once the rear is up on a paddock stand you could jack the front up under the standard can or the chav one like mine but loosen everything up first. When I got a rear stand I covered the cups with rubber inner tube to stop it scratching the swing arm. nate. |

on the second ones, the rear stand looks as if it uses bobbins rather than cups, so wont be any good. the first should ones be ok anyway. make sure to loosen pinch bolts, axles, and belt tensioner before putting the bike on the stands, and torque everything up when the bikes off the stands. |

the front one is the same as i have. i had to put a slight bend in the top tube to fit under the yoke on my Scg  should fit normal xb's ok though

I got the BIKETEK SERIES 3 stands (front and rear) off E-Bay for £47 all in and are very good. The seller is Bikerpartsdirect. |

Folks stateside recommend T-Rex stands from ebay, but I have no idea what shipping would be. They come as a front/rear pair, support the front from top of triple tree, not from fork bottoms. For US, they are inexpensive but everyone says they hold up well. You can call them to be sure the spec you are ordering is correct for what you want to do, since they offer models that support from axle sliders as well as swingarm. |

Cool, Thanks everyone. As my bike now has 8k on the clock and I have to do the wheel bearings I'm thinking that I should do most or all of the 10k service things as well. Good idea? Is there anything that is not in the owners / workshop manual that really needs attention? Andrew |

I'm using this front wheel holder for some time now and recommend getting/making one. To get the front wheel off the ground I'm using this lift in conjuction with some fancy shaped rubber which keeps the bike surprisingly stable with some common rear wheel lift. |
