I have a 2008 xb12xt which I love, however recently when braking at low speeds I have noticed a cracking noise from the front end, usually when the forks compress. I was thinking it might be the steering or the wheel bearings. Has anyone any ideas?

If you look quickly to the left whilst riding you may just catch a glimpse of the devil sat on your shoulder cracking a whip

I think a visit to the Emporium when i go over is in order. (He lives across the road LOL)

He's not owned from new, so I doubt any of the bearing have been changed, I think its still on its original front tyre

We had a look today, his bike has nearly done 9K. I've had a lisen & it seems to be coming from the headstock, we jacked it up but couldn't feel any obvious play

I had the same thing on mine. Blackbear retorqued all the bolt on the front end & it went.

Think it may have been the top yoke slightly loose
