Too off topic to mix with that other exhaust thread, but received my tubbs 'modified' standard can this week. Top service on my old can, which was just rusting away quietly in the garage, and quick turnaround. Thanks tubbs.
My Stealth had come lose after I unwittingly pancaked it on the ramp into my garage. The softish metal just folded in with no sound leaving the rear clamp hoops needing adjustment.
Still it gave me an excuse to try something new and strip and clean the XB again.
It's still early days and my ECU feels like it's still adjusting, but observations on performance are currently;
The Stealth gave my XB9SX buckets more torque up to 5k rendering the gearbox almost redundant on the open road. It also sounded amazing (if too loud), but didn't seem to work as well at higher revs.
The modified can (probably due to the standard aperture sizes) flows well at mid to high revs like the standard can, but with more urgency. There are moments of brilliance although the throttle baulks a bit at first until the gases catch up, but I am hoping that this will improve. There is less bottom end torque than the Stealth meaning more use of the gearbox, but it feels like the engine will last longer......if I moderate use of higher revs (I tend to keep below 6k anyway). Can't wait to get out again and clock some more miles.
Anyone else with a 9 and a tubbs can?
