Has anyone done a fuel injection conversion to a carb?? If so is this straight forward and what do you have to do?

Trojan does a kit... But if you don't want to pay him, you need a carb, a carb bracket, a new timing cup from an S1, an ignition unit from an S1 and a coil then you just join the wires...

plus a carb manifold, gut the fuel pump and fit a fuel tap

i did a bit of reading on various forums when i was thinking of putting a carb on my x1, a few people used the x1's origional ecm/ignition as fitted to the bike.

since then i have been doing a bit of tunning with megalog with good results, and have decided why did i want a carb ?, nowt wrong with he fuel injection once you get your head around it, easy to do basic tunning and maintain, especially when we have great tools like ecmspy.

The kit includes a bit more than that! It includes modifying your existing ECU so that you don't need a new ignition unit, all necessary carb and choke cables and associated brackets, fuel tap, full instructions and most importantly......a Mikuni HSR42 carb that is correctly pre jetted so that you don't need to spend ages messing around to get it running right.
It is an expensive kit but is worth the easy fitment and lack of hassle involved :)

:yt:
Mine was lumpy low down, fitted a 61 tooth rear pulley and it was a vast improvement, i intend to fit a 27 front pulley to get full US gearing, that should help things even more, especially when crawling through traffic.
Also, it could be that your fuel maps could do with tunning to match your set up (exhaust/intake), as long as there are no other issues such as tps or timing set correctly etc.
have you got a copy of ecmspy and a cable to connect your bike to a laptop ?

A TPS reset should help lumpiness

I am sure there are people near you that can help you. If not, consider a ride over to see Maz, he'll give your bike the once over, teach you a few things and tell you what to look out for.
