| Post subject: | Best rear tyre for a Buell XB12S LIghtning? |
Hi everyone, New member as of today. Been riding a Buell XB12S Lightning since November of last year and loving it. It's a 2007 bike and at 6,000 miles needs new back tyre. Any suggestions as to the best tyre to go for? Thanks in anticipation of any help anyone can give. |

Obviously you will not be wanting to mix manufactures. I had pirrelli scorpions on my Uly. Was advised by a couple of different fitters that they were crap. I have just fitted a pirelli angel and cannot fault it. Excellent in the wet. |

using pirelli diablo corsa 3 and had no problems with them and grip fine.I have always changed my tyres for pirelli's but what ever your used to as there is no bad tyres if you stick with the branded tyres and there has also been decent reports of Maxxis tyres. |

Bridgestone 023 .......over 3000 miles touring europe on the CR fully loaded and even the rear looks hardly worn .....great grip and handling as well ...the pirelli corsa 3 didn't even last 3000 miles on the rear.

I was impressed with the grip of the original Pirelli Diablo's that came on my XB, but they went square after 1500 miles. I changed them for Michelin Road Pilot 2's which, although not as sticky, were still going strong at 5000 miles. |

My Diablo Strada's last as well as anything and feel secure most of the time, but I has only got an XB9.  When I went to Pro Tyre to fit my latest Diablo Strada rear, I saw a GSXR owner picking up his back wheel, which had just been fitted with an Avon Azarro Storm. I don't know how good these tyres are, but it really looked the biz with a neat treat pattern.  Maybe b******s I know, but has anyone tried Avon Storms on their XB? |

I do think of changing brands but always back out as I know I can trust the pirelli tyre. |

Not sure on XB's but just fitted the 4th pair of Avon Storms on my M2, last 2 pairs being called "Ultra"s, so that must be good Fitted numerous pairs on my TDM as well. I ride every day and I really like them. Most tyres in this class are rather brilliant so you can hardly go wrong but at least Avon is manufactured in good ol' England (even though they are US owned) |

Bryn Phillips, late of this Parish and ex Bridgestone employee (now Dunlop, I think  ) used to come on this site and offer tyre advice, agrees with you 100%. Obviously common sense must prevail, but he confirmed that using tyres from the same manufacturer being the rule, was a bit of an urban myth. I must be a bit odd coz my rain tyres are both Bridgestones (but that was because they were very cheap) Imnsho, all modern tyres are excellent, and wear out F+R about the same time. I usually go for price on the road bikes, the Road Attacks being my faves Remember the early Jap discs? Some were chrome plated to stop them going rusty. Riding in the wet in those days was the ultimate adventure
