On the way to HD a couple of weeks ago to get an ecm update before re-programming the ECM.

Was early so being nice pushed the bike to outside the front gate so not to wake the rest of the family -then started it and walked back to close the gate - just as I turn around bike hits the ground..... :evil: :evil:

there was a very slight slope on the ground and the vibration rocked the bike forward and off the sidestand.

Broken right front indicator, scuffed frame puck, scuffed hand guard, scuffed bar end weight - pain in the ass from kicking myself !!

Ordered a new indicator when I arrived at HD.

Can the frame puck be rubbed with a bit of sanpaper to clean it up a bit ? mainly just tarmac marks on it.

Also any suggestions for getting tarmac/gravel marks off the grey hand guards ??

Bike is a 2008 model XB12XT.

Gutted !

did exactly the same thing chum, pucks are quite cheap so i'd just replace them. order them from jersey hd or give ross a call at provincewide and he'll post you some. although there are two type- one for ss and uly and others for short models.

i'd scrape the roughness off the handguards with a stanley blade at 90degrees to the damage then forget about it, at least thats it christned!

It's been said many, many, many times here - never trust a running Buell on a sidestand.

My bloody thing had 'walked' about 2 feet backwards when I got back..... from getting my gloves, lucky for me it was on flat ground....beware :ill: :ill:

You know how to cheer up a guy Maz !!

How are the frame pucks held on ? on a 2008 XT ? is it some kind of special glue or something ? where can I get it ?

Whats the best way to peel off the old one ? fishing line ?

Had an accident on my firebolt a while back and the frame puck on the left side got ripped to bits, but the frame hasn't got a scratch.
Might have been lucky though :D

Thats why i now have a small bunjee loop that i put round the handlebar to hold the front brake on while its warming up on the side stand :idea: Iv had the bike move over a 2 foot backwards into my car on the drive without it! :oooops:

Good idea with the bungee on the brake as I normally let mine warm up on the stand while I'm closing the garage door etc...most times it doesnt move as its flat but on a slope pointing forward - deadly - bike moves - stand stays - next minute no side stand as it pops closed .......aaaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhh !
