Post subject:  Insurance renewal time

I've insured my bikes with ebike for the last few years and received my renewal paperwork in the post 10 days ago, quoting £320 premium. I spent a few hours doing the compare sites and found a few favourable quotes, which I saved to delve into further when I had more time. I then received an email from ebike quoting my premium as £272, including a 5% renewal discount? Now my maths skills are not great but it looks like a tad more than 5% to me. And, I wonder if I had just renewed when I received my first correspondence, would I have been given the discount? I don't think so. Anyway, I called the insurers (brokers actually) with the best two quotes and eventually settled with Carole Nash (Equity Red Star insurers) at £232. This is for two bikes (XB12xt & Honda Silverwing) fully comp in the UK and in Europe, full breakdown service including homestart (Axa Assistance) in UK and Europe, legal cover, no claims protection etc.

Carol Nash are great till you want to make a change to your policy. Last year I paid more in admin charges than I paid in premium. Hence I'm now with Ebike where i can administer my own policy and not pay someone £30 a change.

I totally agree copper, if one needs to make a lot of changes throughout the year, ebike works very well. I added on my girlfriends scooter to ride it to Romford when she sold it. No cost at all and was able to print out a new document. Then I added on my stepson's scooter to take it for an mot and again, cost free.
