Not sure if many of you have seen this week's MCN, but Mac Motorcycles have designed 3 new concept bikes, the first one, called the Spud, is due for release Summer 2011 as a production bike. Here's a link to their website...

So, I wonder if they did a deal to buy all of the Blast motors in the Buell "garage sale" ?

I wonder how many bikes they'll be able to build ?

I remember reading about this at least a year and a half ago, but then, because Buell ceased trading, Mac said they wouldn't be able to get any motors. Obviously there must be a stockpile somewhere that they have been given access to.

I think it is quite good that they are managing to use a good engine and make it into a decent bike. There was so much more Buell could have done with the Blast. The engine is good, just the rest around it that let it down really.

Cheers for those links Ash. The first two where whilst I was away in Europe this year. The last one was a long time ago. (My excuse for missing them...thanks for researching it though!)

I also prefer the design of the Ruby above the others... Nice looking bike.

I know Chris, I actually thought this thread was an old April fools- how an engine designed for 2 cylinders but only has 1 can be called good is beyond me :!: lOl lOl lOl

I was astonished how little power they produce, you'd be better off cycling - they really are gutless Light years behind a Rotax/KTM/etc

Even well before Buell ceased to trade they refused to sell engines to Mac Motorcycles. Last time I spoke to them they were looking at using Yamaha XT660 engines or similar instead.

I don't think they will see the light of day with Blast motors as an option!

That Yamaha engine is great.

Doesn't look as good as the air cooled Blast one though.

Makes one seriously wonder how bad the rest of a Blast is! - Still the MAC thingies look nice and that's the point I suppose.

It doesn't matter how pretty they are to you when you're stuck at the side of the A1 in the rain.......

My engine's got two cylinders and hasn't made it out of the garage for a couple of months - can't even get stuck at the side of the road!
