Post subject: CARBON FIBRE "THE CON"
PostPosted: 01 Nov 2010 16:33
Am sure most have seen the Carbon Fibre Tank Inserts for X1's on the Adrenaline Moto website at close to £300 including vat as their prices are all pre-vat.
I just purchased all the way from Hong Kong on thursday last week and delivered today to my property with no import duty almost identical tank inserts, the tank cover itself, the front fender and the chin spoiler for £322 delivered. Admittedly the tank inserts do not seem to have the mounting holes already placed unlike the rest of the items which do, but even so for the price "who gives a toss". Yea yea I know Trojan Horse have been supplying us stuff since the begining but fuck me at totally rip off prices.
Let me see now been thinkin about sortin the back end undertray area ~there's this that means hacking the alloy indicator mount off the rear subframe RRC tail tidy admittedly it's got a number plate mount ~or this Carbon Fibre Undertray for £68 less if combined with other stuff and the shippin is peanuts :? Then again maybe a bit of alloy plate and a stainless number plate mount will suffice ~but you get the idea! :old:

Gotta wait 3 weeks for me Forcewinder to come from Trojan Horse via germany and the USA fer fooks sake, yet the japs can ship over a weekend and in under 3 days ~fucking joke

Cus you guess where they get their carbon from ~you guessed it Hong Kong, all the US Carbon places act as front ends for carbon firms in Hong Kong.
When I did my order it was on ebay but just used messages and paypal so avoided all the postage mounting up and allowed for good discounts for bulk purchase.
Two items had to be ordered from the states and it was a total pain as the people were english speaking fucking useless nobbers ~I almost ended up with two fly screens and one hugger talk about fucking incompetance ~the japs were spot on polite charming efficient and wayyy cheaper than anything available stateside :D

Just checked up your info on "American Sports Bike" and you must have more cash than brains fer fucks sake, check it out ~ASB Rear Hugger £175 comapared to where I got my stuff with no postage ECC Racing Carbon Rear Hugger £80 Astounding naivety on your part dude especially as discounted if buy more and postage only paid on most expensive piece ~1 item

That's £230 delivered as long as don't incur import duties (some stuff does and some stuff don't)that model is for CARBURATED the fuel injection model uses a slightly different inlet manifold and no doubt costs significantly more.
If you read all the advert it says they are currently unavailable and on back order and that the picture shown is for the fuel injected model and that the parts from the carb model will vary significantly~ ie it wont have the right air filter (no hole for sensor) no parts to support the sensor, a different elbow, dude the carb model is significantly different in parts and price ;) But nice try Ash 8-)

Just as a point of interest.

CF products are made in one of two ways. One is hand laid like normal GF. The other is baked in a pressure oven, is the top line stuff as used in racing kit, is lighter (less resin) and costs a lot more.

CF is light/strong and works great if used in the right way. If you like the look of CF then thats fine but thats just about all you will get on most parts of a bike.

If anyone wants to save weight then a diet would be cheaper lOl

This stuffs made the posh way and vacuum bagged ~not that it really matters as am not trying to save weight am just rying to change the colour from yelow to carbon colour ~infact Buell made a limited run of Carbon X1's with P&M wheels here a left shot ;) Nicely done and supplied with a full race system a pretty rare mutha 8-) You can tell it's genuine cus the weave is huge and I have a genuine lower guard which also has big weave ~had the hugger too but destroyed it in a moment of insanity
