Is it just me or do others feel the rear brake light isn't bright enough on the 1125r?

The difference between the always on light and the brake light isn't huge. Obvious, but not over so.

Thinking of popping down to Halfords and replacing it with another, but could this just be me being a little over sensitive?

It's never bothered me, but there are a couple of ways to tackle it if you're unhappy with it.

You could change the bulb, others have said that the LED brake light bulbs ( although most are not approved ) are brighter than standard bulbs, but I have never tried one.

Or you can change the rear light for an LED one - the 2010 models came with them as standard - part no. Y0401.7AC, although that is a much more expensive option - about £70 last time I enquired. You will also have to change the wiring connectors to get it wired in.

The LED replacement looks good. I just did a search on Yahoo!
May save up a bit and get that.

Sir Marky, just found this on Ebay -

Never tried one but it should fit as the early 1125 rear light is the same as the XB models.

I really wouldn't bother with upgrading the rear light. I love every second of riding my 1125, but if you're of a sensitive disposition, I'd save your emotional energy for later in ownership. You'll need it ;) lOl

Having just spent the past few months riding a '79 R100RS BMW, I'd like to say. 'Brakes, wow, luxury.' ;)

All nice and dandy etc. but if the car behind can't tell you're braking in bright daylight because the light doesn't contrast too much from the always on bit then I could be in trouble.

Coming from a BMW where the brake light was very bright, I am used to something with a little more luminosity. Not saying the Buell one is wrong, just a little less bright than I'm used to.

I think, for piece of mind, I'll seek out a brighter bulb from Halfords and then get the LED replacement when I can.

Just for piece of mind etc. :-)

Having driven from Bath around the ring road towards Kendleshire I pulled into a layby after being told my back light was out! Can't tell how long it was but not good at all. Dark, windy, rainy and on a black bike with no rear light!

Had to call the RAC to come sort me out.

Only had the damn thing 6 days and bits failing already!

Not a happy bunny! Need to seek out the LED replacement as fast as possible I think for peace of mind!

I brought one back from the States last week. $59 including local taxes.
