It seems the display information on my new 1125r doesn't show the correct gear.

It often shows 1 when I'm in 2 and 3 and 2 jump around. Something very wrong here.

Has this been reported before? Can I get this fixed easily? The bike is still new and has 18 months warranty left.

AFAIK it calculates the gear you're in by using the speed and revs - do you slip the clutch much ? This will give a false gear reading - it has happened to me once or twice.

When navigating through town at slow speeds I do use the clutch more often.

Easiest fix would be a bit of black insulation tape.

Talk about overkill...... a most unnecessary exercise....

Have to admit I prefer the IC on my 2008 R - no gear indicator - I prefer to have the air and coolant temperature displays on together. Never really found a gear indicator useful.

So do I, mind you, I often mistake 5th for 4th around town :P

Although the AT is a random number generator. Started the bike the other morning and it read -12C

Unless of course the ECM uses the same matrix to calculate fuelling/timing. I doubt it though.

Hi sirmarky,

When you have the clutch pulled in the indicator will show 1st gear, let it out and it will show the gear that your in..... could this be what your seeing?, how is it when your out of town on the open road?

If it's different to above, and all other info on the IC is up and working correctly, I would suspect your IC, as this is the brain. What year is your bike?. 09 or 10?.

No! It's far too cold for that!
