Post subject:  2006 XB12Ss - Beull Race ECM - Drummer Can - KN Filter

Hi,

I have made a search for this particular combination but not found a match.

Does anyone here have any experience with this exact match up?

I am looking for personal experience to answer if spending the addtional $250US for the race ecm made an appreciable and noticable difference in how the bike ran. Bike runs fine now, no issues there, just thinking of adding the race ecm as an additional mod.

Bike will used both on road for general commutes and on track for track days.

Thanks kindly.

Might be useful having some extra revs for nadgery bits on a track where you can't change gear :?

...........but, if you're happy the way it runs, leave it, and buy an AST shock :yup:

ha ha, right you are Kev. But I don't think I made the same typo when I did my search :oooops:

There is a lot of good info on here about the ecm and ecmspy, but I don't like to tinker with that sort of stuff. Makes me nervous and this may be a sign of my age. In the "old days' it was a matter of taking the time to juggle with various jetting to come up with what made for acceptable running while attaining the performance you were after. These were mechanical bits and pieces you could hold in your hand, nowadays it's all this computer "stuff" that you can't see.

I figure at least if I buy a race ecm, it's something I can hold in my hands and know exactly what piece I put on and what piece I can take off.

Don't know if that make any sense to the younger guys and gals on this board. Terrible getting old isn't it :P

:yt: However, if you fit a race ECM, then you'll have to reset the TPS with a computer lOl

Don't worry, I'm a complete IT retard but I can still manage that 8-)

I thought that 2006 models had the manual TPS reset ?

As Drummers are American, you may be better off searching on BadWeatherBikers ?

Sportster Man might be right about that, I'm not sure what year they changed to twiddling the throttle to reset the TPS lOl . I thought it was later that they changed :?

IMHO Buell race ECU is exactly that....good for race/track days, poor for everyday use on my 2009 XB12ss.

I spend most of my time on the road I have gone back to STD ECU. I used the race ECU with Albert666 can and a K&N, but everyone is different, like I said it is just an opinion.

Better to find someone who can reprog your existing ECU exactly as you want it.

I had the race ECU on my XB12Ss and it made very little difference.

Thanks for the input guys. The maker of the pipe (Drummer) shows hp charts using KN filter and Buell Race ECM. Average HP is about 104.

What they don't show is the output without the Race ECM.

Did you not know that American air is richer than ours, so it gives more power on a dyno ! lOl
