Hello guys, changed the oil in my firebolt the other day. The bike was running fine before I did this, but when i went to ride it after completing the job the oil light came on and refuses to go out. It would appear that the feed line from the swingarm is blocked or airbound as there was no oil in the filter. I change the oil in this machine every 1500 to 2000 miles and have not encountered this problem before. Any light on this would be most appreciated eg what is the best way to free an airlock or sludge should that be the problem. Thanks

I would be very surprised if it was sludge when you change your oil regularly.
Is it possible to remove the oil pump oil feed pipe on an XB? If it is an airlock, maybe loosening the said pipe may allow the air to escape?

Did you fill the filter with oil before fitting .( read that somewhere) Not sure if it makes a difference though.

yep half filled the filter,as you say-have done this a million times on this machine and have never encountered this one before,will try loosening the pipe and see if that helps,thanks

F-me I hope not lOl , thanks for the link though but the machine is a 2007 xb12r so I believe has the uprated gear already? cheers
