on my way home from work last night my xb12 decided to have a moment sounded like some one turned the run switch off, loss of power and change in noise, possible plug of coil im thinking, kept coming and going, so back to plym hd it is tomorrow? it did this last month too, and even on the way back from its 5k service earlier that month? its not been right since that service i think it seems horiible below about 4500 revs but goes better above? when i had the service the seem to think their techy a xr race techy, fine tuned it for the exhaust and filter..........what could he have done, a tps reset? unless he has tuner pro and ecm spy

Could be an issue with the electrical grounding?
Quite a few folk have had found that can cause bad running, try a search.

Also, I've read that the front HT lead can get frayed or water can get in there.

Pash's senior moments aside.
If you've been riding around in all this wet and salt your electrical connections and groundings could be struggling with all kinds of corrosion and moisture. Try taking off all your main battery / starter / ignition connections and earths and star washers, give em a clean with some gt85 or wd40 and some emery or wire brush and give em a smear of coppa slip before putting em back together (it keeps out the water and conducts well). Not shure how easy it is to do on an XB might be an engine out job

i thought it could be water ht related and it does get rinced off after every ride as i ride it in every weather, but its not been right it did this same thing coning up the a38 mins after the 5k service and then it was a nice day and has done it a couple a times since, seeing as its still under warrenty they can have the thing back

beleive it or not it was apparently the side stand switch intermittantly cutting in and out? so they cleaned it and sent me on my way i pop in to plymouth then get stranded as everytime i let ther clutch out it stopped made them come out and it was disconnected for me till a new one is ordered

Post subject:  Re: buell on the blink again :(

just do away with it (the switch that is )
sorry i cant remember if its normally open or closed ?
just a case of either joining the cables, or insulating them seperately

then no more reoccurring fault :yup:
also it's cheaper too

It's normally open they've just disconnected it to get it going but it throws up the check light now? So maybe ECM spy could disable it?

its off back to plym hd tomorrow for the new switch under warrenty though its still missing even with the switch disconnected so summat must still be a drift, dunno where my other post about this went :? but they now want to put my standard pipe and air filter on it as they believe thats causing the missing as its to lean......though it could just be a fouled plug? or maybe needs the earth sorting out as i read this can cause bad running to? bet they dont refit mt exhaust under warrenty

At least they're working with you about the non-standard exhaust/filter. The guy's at Edinburgh HD said they couldn't do warranty work with non-standard exhausts on. I mean, they fixed my wheel bearings with a different exhaust on but they said if there is any possibility of a link between the problem and the exhaust then it could cos trouble for the warranty.

Understandable from their POV - they've got book times they get paid for etc. The dealer is (in most cases) a business and not Buell enthusiasts willing to spend unpaid time sorting things out.
