well so Plymouth hd put it just now after going to pick my xb up again today for the umteenth time, this time after having a new engine temp sensor,

only to get half way home to hear a loud jingling noise..........now it appears the cir clip for the front header has rusted out n they studs are pretty rusty too so they say bloody hell its just one thing after another,

had it a week needed a new battery
then fouled a rear plug
then the std. exhaust rotted out which was replaced and i fitted a stealth
then a battery terminal came loose
then at the 5k service needed head race bearing and front and rear wheel bearings,
then spluttered and farted less than a month later had the side stand switch repaired
which failed on the way home leaving me stranded
had that disconnected still ran like poo
had the switch replaced
also found the engine temp sensor to be faulty had that done too
now the exhaust on the way home

all in all my bikes spent an awful lot of time having warranty work done

so ive contacted the fair trading standards and im apparently to ask for even up until 6 years

a. repair
b. replacement
c. refund (i feel this is my only option as ive lost all faith in my beloved buell)

has any one else ever been down this route before
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Battery could be down to it not being charged occasionally at the dealers ?
wheel bearings seem to average out at 5k on the XB
the side stand switches on Buells are extra weight they could do without ;)
mine would foul plugs if i gave it revs before it had run for a couple of minutes
exhausts have always been mild steel crap :headbang:

not sticking up for HD , just observations from other owners (including me) of the XB experience

good luck , but HD have very slopey shoulders...

Yeh battery's always charged gets used most days, it's just not a list of faults you'd expect for a brand new bike, if I didn't have a warranty it would a cost me a fortune buy now what with days I've not had it, and they even had the cheek to say looks like i've bought a duff one well once we fix it It'll be fine lol till next time. Dunno how They l like me asking for my money Back though

lol 3 engines in less than 6 thousand miles :)
my S1w spent more time in the dealers than at my place till i stopped using dealers to fix the mess.
Funnily enough as soon as I started maintaining my bike myself it never had another problem ;)

How were the heated grips added? Does yours have the aux plug wired in under the screen or did you wire that up yourself? Try disconnecting them - a short in them could give you troubles possibly?

You say that the battery's always charged - do you keep it on a tender ? If it's only because you ride it daily then you need to do a fair bit of mileage - IIRC it takes about 15 miles just to replace the charge you used starting it ...

... short journeys will kill a Buell's battery.

i do on average 30 miles a day commute, the heated grips were just plug n play but it has missed and farted before they were fitted i just did them over xmas, plym hd said all the faults are my fault as i fitted an aftermarket exhaust rather than the bag of rust i had replaced under warrenty lol and other faults are just wear and tear, maybe im supposed to not use it in the rain and hang ot above the mantle piece, or they should have advised me it wont hold up to being ridden day in day out any weather, think im gonna px it in and go back to jap :(

Maybe I should test this theory and take the S3 to a dealer for a change. :coat:

if you are getting coughing and farting especialy when the engine is cold and battery problems, have a look at the earth terminal from the battery to the sub frame, mine was covered in grease on all mating surfaces, cleaned it all up and the bike was transformed, not had a problem since

All Buells are made on a friday-the amount of issues your bike has will equate to the time on friday.
For example.....

8a.m will see one maybe two niggly lil faults that are easily fixed

14:59 You have a grenade, really, ask Adam!!!!

I expect someone like Pash could work out the formula for faults per minutes at work if he had the time :!: lOl lOl

the coughing has now apparently been fixed was a faulty engine temp sensor apparently as i have a filter and exhaust is making it run lean and hotter burning the sensor out :?

batterry was fixed a week after getting the bike as it had been sat for a yr in the showroom

other faults side stand switch was apparently just a duff

battery terminal was cuz some one didnt tighten it

plugs must have been a duff one too

still its been back 14 times for one thing or another which is rubbish i think

when i bought it not expecting it to break every 200 miles or less :(

maybe i bought the wrong bike for my usage, shame as i love my buell to bits look after it but just dont wanna spend all my time fixing it
