Hello,
Hopefully my picture loaded up OK....

So I'm a new Buell XB9S owner (got it last week) I'm not sure if it's too much of an issue but found this little tear in my 03 XB9 belt, the bikes second hand and has about 18000 miles.

I've downloaded the manual and it says about stones in the belt, fraying, chipping and bevelling I'm not really sure where this fits n and what to do , have the belt changed or not.

What do you think I should do, change it or leave it because it's only a little tear?

It's the fibres that take the load. Looks like it's a tear in the rubber.

I'm cheap, I hate spending money, so if it were me I would ensure I had breakdown cover and keep my eye one it...

It'll be fine.......but if you're really worried about it, I'd change it 1/2 mile before it breaks :)

Whereabouts are you ?

It may be fine for years,..it may be fine for weeks...I rekon, if you,ve got some long trips coming up, changing it will give u peace of mind..if funds allow.... (Riders of Bristol..ukbeg diccount..£195 ish )....If your off to the tt tho, your cash may be needed on more enjoyable activities.... :) ..Is there such a thing as "Too much advice"... :D

if in doubt , or it's stressing you out , change the belt ( for an OEM one, not a cheap ebay copy )
and keep the old one as a spare , to carry around with you , until the new belt breaks in ??.000 miles .
Have you got a free spirits tensioner ? if not get one it helps to prolong belt life

The advantage of taking a used belt as a spare if you fit a new one is that the used one will be a bit more flexible to fit in your luggage, but don't crimp it too tight and don't twist it ;)
