Silver plating of cages was first done by Rudge in the 20's (I think :? ) to prevent seizures caused by the dodgy Pilgrim type oil pumps. It's probably redundant these days with reliable high pressure oil pumps (ie not Buells lOl ) but it's a good belt 'n braces. There's a fair bit about plating cages in Tuning for Speed (Irving) or Four Stroke Tuning by A.G.Bell if my memory serves. They're old favourites in my Bog side library, so I'll check in the morning lOl
