The length of your fingers is a factor but not the limiting one…..

Have you ever really looked at/measured a lever pull because I have….

Having big palms, short fingers and a lack of a “gotta keep it standard” mentality has meant that I have changed many a part…. Its also the reason that my Uly is fitted with the R1 left hand switchgear…. The ergonomics just work better for me..

Never disputed the longer actuator = longer travel at lever... its a fact…. That’s why I used the words “offset somewhat”… many years of my life have been in engineering of one sort or another…

As, like many, I only use two fingers on the clutch I fitting the shorty ASV lever to the original Buell perch… It did give me more travel and was a lot smoother (cannot wait for the comments on this one – but please do a quick web search on this first) my thoughts are because of the build quality and its pivot design…

If I had my original I would measure it for you… bet someone who has is rushing outside right with a measure/vernier…

As someone else commented on the ramp ball placement/size… every little change has the potential to make a big difference…

Manufacturers did not use a standard design for a clutch perch/lever so there are better options out there… (modern stuff might… not measured one for a few years now)

The Buell perch does follow Eric's minimal ethos but it's about a pants as an early Yamaha unit…

20,000 miles and the original is flapping about at tick over…. 26,000 miles on the ASV in the original perch and its still, fairly, solid

We are talking millimetres, or part of, here….. and with, say a 10mm pull, that's massive.. some levers designs will give you less travel…. Some more..

Pop down to your local breaker/or bike shop with a measure…

Pull in the lever and see if the ball hits the bar first or not

If someone you know has one of the ISR units knock your self out playing with it

The relationship between the pivot and cable fitment location makes a difference in pull effort…

Always liked the big Kawasaki perch… nice big/long pivot pin that spreads the load for an easier pull… (lets see who trashes this one) they can do 100,000 miles and still not flap about… just look ugly…
