Maybe someone will offer a big-pin-crank-job for 00 to 07 cranks soon ;)

I'm surprised they don't because to a company geared up for crank repairs a crank from a Buell is nothing complicated .

Are the 00 M2 cranks not the same through to 02? And are they not the same as the X1/S3? And are the M2 and X1 engines the same build apart from the carb and ignition? And hence the potential for failure is the same for these cranks? Surely the difference of one or two degrees of advance between cylinders and more accurate fuelling is not enough to make the cranks last longer in an X1/S3?

Yep, engines are all the same, so no reason for it to be only M2's.......maybe it was just a batch of engines that ended up in M2's ?......I have been remiss in so much as I've never bothered to record vin/engine numbers to see if this may be the case :oooops: ........I recently had an X1 from the IOM that'd lunched its big ends.

On the subject of oil pump drive gears......Buell 1st developed the 'bronze' gear back in 98 for their S1 race bikes but never fitted it as standard until 06 :?
Reason these gears wear is the absence of an oil pressure relief valve.......which Buell didn't sort until 08, when they also got rid of the drive gear and ran the pump rotors off the cams :)

Like DaveH I went out today and brought a brand new street Triple.

Any ideas what to do with the Buell, has anybody got an engine spare?

I was reading about this in late 05 and other things whilst preparing to buy my XB9, so I stuck out for an 06 model (Dec 05 build). Could have had an earlier 05 XB12 for the same money.....but! :? Now have 33k on my XB9SX and no.......yet! lOl

Call me weird, but if you scrape the money together I'd always try to fix your XB. Otherwise it's scratch one more XB from these shores.
