It comes off as a unit... Lock the primary drive with a big brass door hinge between the sprockets... Check the manual to ensure you know which way to undo the nuts...

In the process of get prices for repair, new crank looking like around the £800 mark.
So looking at about £2000 for all parts and labour. :o

Went down to Powerglides in Maidstone for the quote.

Now it's a matter of what to do scrap or repair :?:

Wow, that's the cost of a crank? Can't they recover it?

If it was me, I would be fixing it. Couple more options for cranks for you...

1. Matts Machine Shop
2. Willybuell's partner in crime Brian Von S

I money would be with BVS cos he has plenty of experience of this sort of stuff. If you want your engine pulling, how much of it can you do yourself?

For £2000 is Powerglide stripping the motor, reworking crank, rebuilding engine or are you doing all the stripping and building. Has any one got an idea why these cranks are failing :? :?:

I don't think that is a bad price they might give a discount if they had 2 engines to rebuild at he same time. Mine engine is nearly out just waiting for some descent imperial Allen keys to be delivered to persuade some stubborn bolts.
