hi guys / my interactive exhaust motor isnt working and was stuck open from the last time i used it . checked cable and the exhaust end is free . done the test on full throttle and turned on ignition and motor doesent move . and i know it did the last time i did this . is there a way of testing the motor ? when i had the ignition on i touched the motor quadrant and it did move a bit but not the right cycle .the spindle is free if you move it when ignition is off. at one point the fuel inj lamp did seem to flash a 23 code but its not doing anything now and the bike starts and runs ok but the exhaust motor doesent function . the fuel inj light always comes on in top gear when im doing high revs since it came back from having a ecm swap under waranty . it stays on till you stop and turn off ignition then restart it and its ok again . but the exhaust valve has always worked . any ideas or advise on this would be appreciated . thanks boldy . :(

I kept aving problems with mine - the exhaust has been replaced and cable removed so it wasnt used anyway. mine was sticking and opening it up and spraying with a bit of electrical cleaner stopped the problem.

This thread tells you how to read the fault code

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=807

You can do it by shorting out some pins on the connector.

As you can see, the code for the interactive exhaust is 21 - not 23.

I've now taken mine off and replaced with the Trojan Horse replacement thingy so if you do have a problem with the servo unit PM me and make me an offer.

The gears in the motors have been known to break.

Cheers

The cheap plastic gears in the one on a mates 08 lightning broke up after 15k miles, he just wired the valve three quarters open, said it runs ok and sounds better.

Hi boldy,

if you can move the spindle by hand at all then the spindle is slipping in the gear it goes through and the unit is scrap :( . No movement should occur by hand (or attempted as this will strain/damage the delicate internals.)

Regards, Jon
