having just removed the infernal power commander and assigned it to the bin..i had to replace the fuel level sender in the tank, thats where the problems started, drained fuel ,removed filler and vent slackened off the fuel outlet and when trying to undo the cable gland the fitting wound itself out of the pump, not a problem but i had to remove the cable from the plug and push the wiring into the tank whilst removing pump, struggled to remove the fitting from the tank and reinstalled it into the pump, the problem is that there are 2 red wires in the plug ,and on reinstalling them i have no fuel pump running but the fuel level light comes on for 3 secs and then goes off as does the cel...how do i check which red wire is needed for the pump motor...??? help the suns out and the bikes not... ![]() |

?? ![]() Wires are gray = ign. feed to pump; black= level sensor earth; yellow/red= level sensor signal and brown/yellow = ecm earth to pump. Are you colour blind ? |

well i`m certainly not colour blind there are 4 wires coming from the pump to the loom connection and 2 are red 1 is black and the last one is black with a white tracer. any how the problem is now cured swapped over the two reds and alls good only to find the throttle pull cable is frayed badly..time for some fettling of my beloved X1 and will have to use the trumpet.. |

Throttle pull cable frayed? No worries, put a new inner in like what I do (I did a post on it recently)... Recycling is my middle name... As for colour blindness, I never understood why I could read the old '69' in those dots at school and one of my mates couldn't... |

Hi Nick i`ve just read your old post regarding making up cables and have been on the venhill site, will be ordering up all the bits asap after a measure up..so much more satisfying making cables and being hands on rather than fitting bits others have made..man and machine i just love it... |

Test it by pulling at it with the nipple in a vice to make sure it has soldered up well, don't leave it to chance of being stuck at the side of the road... Let us know how you get on... |

I built a couple of clutch cable inners too. Not really that hard as long as you have the brass nipples and some silver solder. Job done! ![]() |

well the throttle cable is now fixed, all the parts cost less than a £5 from venhills and took less than an hour to sort, will be buying from them again.. ![]() |

well the throttle cable is so much smoother and with the poxy power commander removed the bike is transformed with no flat spot at 2.5k any more ..will now have to reflash the ecm to race spec as it keeps bouncing off the limiter ![]() |
