I need the collective experience of the Buell faithful. I had a major service performed after 14.5k trouble free miles on my 08 XB12X. 1500 miles later it started to make a very loud click in the fork area both on compression and on rebound. Almost like there was some kind of catch or snag that clicked on the down and up at a point. I noticed it under hard braking. I can duplicate without difficulty, it is very consistant. My local dealer, CPO Harley/Buell here in Stuttgart worked on the issue. They had two techs rocking the bike back and forth while a third used the stethoscope to try and isolate the "Click". They eliminated the caliper and the brake disc, they double checked and eliminated the steering head bearings, as well as a plastic bit related to the fender or motor mount. The consensus was that one or both of the fork springs were "bowing" under compression and clanging against the inside of the fork tube, they said there was a bulletin on the Dyna that said not to worry about it. This does not explain the same click during rebound, and I am not convinced. If need be I might be able to video the condition and post for all to work on the teaser. I am hoping that people have seen this before and can offer a better place to start besides take it apart and reassemble, then see if it persists. There are about 5 of us over on Badwebb that have the exact problem, with no real solution as of yet. Thanks, I hope it is obvious to somebody ![]() |

With the front brake on and rocking the bike forward and backward, I get that on my STT sounds like the springs creaking inside the fork legs |

I have the same thing with my 07 uly. Noticed it towards the end of last year before the bike was laid up for winter. Took it out for the first time today and the clunk was really loud. ( much louder than last yr). Anybody any ideas? |

To be honest i was thinking that... the forks seem nice and smooth in their action plus if you rock the bike nice and slowly it doesnt seem to happen. |

All my 1125s do it too. There's a good chance it is the springs moving. If the springs are a loose fit inside the slider, they would bow under compression. |
