How the hell can I tell if my M2 cyclone battery is chargeing or not when the engine is running, why didn't they fit an ign light into the cluster? :headbang: at the moment the only way I can tell is to turn the garage light out and rev the bike with the light trained on the wall and see if the beam brightens up or not, I dont want to keep testing it with a volt meter. has anybody got over this problem by fitting an ignition light or something else to the bike to tell them the battery was charging on start up, If you have could you tell me (and other tuber owners) what you did pleeeeease

This would make for a very neat installation.
Bit over complicated with all the flashing stuff, all you really need to know is charge or no charge, but they do say they can program it to your requirements.
Cheap and elegant solution IMHO.

Why you not want to 'keep checking' the voltage :?:
Surely if you have a charging problem either the battery is on the way out, or you need to overhaul the charging system, No?
I like your find rik, tempted myself, But then I use a trickle charger if I'm not using the bike for more than a couple of days.

Yer but you might get a problem while your out riding one day when your miles from home, and we all know what happens when your battery goes flat when riding :o So it must be better to get some indication of a problem occuring so you can get home before it happens, after all batteries dont last forever nor do alternators and how many of us have been in a car park or somewhere miles from home with a flat battery

Just thinking about this - is there a discernible point beyond which an older battery is putting undue strain on the bike's charging system, no matter how well kept on a trickle charger? A monitor might be of help to know when a battery's time is up.

Or not - I'm just wondering about this. Thoughts?

I've just got myself one of these, got the chap to program it with just three stages;
no charge
charge
overcharge
Tiny (5mm) LED, mount it anywhere on the dash, only two wires into existing dash wiring, and only a tenner. :yup:

Nice guy, great to deal with, highly recommend him to you.

Because all those bloody lights are DAMNED irritating especially at night. I tried one.

I fitted a basic analog voltmeter. Breakers yard gave it to me - came out of an Audi.

I wonder if he would do

Charge - OFF - under charge YELLOW - overcharge RED - Self test GREEN

Why have a light that says I'm OK?

He will - so I'm going to order a couple in 5 and 8mm sizes. One is for the Chav-rover.
