Lads and ladesses,

I am going to be away from the bike (2001 X1 with standard HD battery - new back in Jan 2011) for a while from Monday Morning, possibly until late february, it doesn't get ridden a lot at the moment.....so .....

1) Do I leave the battery in the bike connected and charge it when it goes totally flat to keep the mileometer reading right, and ECU right etc... good condition dry and always above 10°C even in the middle of the night....
2) Disconnect it and leave it in the kitchen under a workunit on my optimate 4 - (there is no electric point where the bike is in the garage! so has to be removed if needing recharging.... very frustrating....)
3) Disconnect it from the negative terminal, leave the positive terminal on and it will be fine to connect back and start when I return....

Answers on a postcard please.....

Many thanks in advance....

The best answer is the one that does not seem available to you: battery in the bike, connected to trickle charger. No way to get power out there where you keep the bike?

Unfortunately no....Where I am , its in a communal garage, and they don't have power points on the wall, I can't ride it up the stairs and its at least 300m away in another block's basement from where my flat is.....

So what is second best?

Thanks Pash, does that mean it won't let the mileometer loose its value or affect any circuits/sensors/or the ECM?

Btw , my wife just asked if any of the guys here enjoyed 'Strictly come dancing' tonight? Who in your estimation should have gone out tonight?

(sorry but she was quite insistent I put this on here.....)

I prefer Strictly Nude Twister...

You will lose your tripmeter value but nothing else.

Does Bruce and Tess host that as well? I'd like to try and Twister with Tess Daly (not Bruce) just to find out....

Needless to say I followed this Chap's advice last time round on TPS reset, apart from using ECM spy, and the bike is running as sweet as a nut, no issues with rough running, the bike was charging at 13.8-13.9V and all is dandy apart from having a hand resting on the throttle for 60 seconds at startup.
