Hi fella buellers I've just been out for a blast on my x1 and when I pulled over and left on tick over I had a few drips of white sludge dripping out my overflow pipe that connects to the fuel and air filter this isn't the norm is it..??
As one of our fellow Buellers has already commented, this is classic of water emulsification within the oil and I recommend an oil and filter change.
Water vapour is a natural by-product of petrol / air combustion and, when the engine is cold, this can condense ( as can atmospheric water vapour ) and mix with the engine oil. If the engine is taken up to full operating ( well over 100 dec C. ) temperature this water boils off and escapes via the engine breather but when vehicles are regularly used for mainly short journeys it builds up in the oil and can eventually emulsify to the extent that it can block oilways and thus fook the engine ( as happened to my very first bike, a Triumph Tr25W 250cc Trophy, when I was a lad ).
