Have had indicator issues on and off for a while now. The rear right has melted its bayonet fitting and has a loose sporadic connection so I have a replacement unit arriving tommorow. Front left shows up as blown bulb but bulb is fine and have even swaped it, rear left according to people following me goes from fast flashing to normal then slow then a flicker and off. With bike stationary igi on, no indicators at all, no clicking from relay so stripped switch gear and cleaned all the crud out and cleaned up connectors now it only works sporadially on front right and rear left but only after riding for a while. Do I need a new relay unit, if so which one. Please help......indicators have always confused me even when working properly. Also hand signals at full lean while round about surfing ain't cool ![]() |

![]() one bit at a time sounds like you may have several faults start with the basics , check all indicators connections including inside the lamp holders the melted rear light , has it damaged any other cable in the tail section |

Have checked cleaned and acf50'd all connectors also ![]() |

what melted the cable to the tail light or the tail light assembly lamp holder i wouldn't use ACF50 on electrical connections , try WD40 not sure if ACF50 is a good conductor TBH , as it is supposed to coat & prevent corrosion so not sure |

The tubular shiny bit that forms the bayonet fitting,ie the female bit that the bulb slots into and twists to lock. I glued the bulb in as a temp fix coz it was v lose but no better wagling about will make it work for a while sometimes several hundred miles before failure. Anyway have got some new ones to fit tommorow. |

![]() Rich , before you spend on new bits do the boring clean & check stuff first you say the" Front left shows up as blown bulb but bulb is fine and have even swapped it" so you have an open circuit ? or high resistance ? remember 2 sides 2 separate circuits one at a time check each indicator , slow and methodical unplug it , clean & check condition of connections including the lamp & holder look at the lamp check it's the right value W , make sure the filament isn't broken they can flap about & make break connection (gentle flick should show it) check you have a good feed to each indicator (take the lamp out put a meter across the lamp holder ) same with the relay connections too , a good wiggle of connections will show up most dodgey connections , you say you have already looked at the switch |

Thanks Don, have done as you have suggested allready, new part is to replace melted one ![]() trouble is I don't have a metre and the sporadic functioning of the relay unit makes things very hard to pin down. Like I say I think vibration may have caused fatigue in the ends of the wires (both ends) and will cut em back a wee bit and reconnect to eliminate lose connections as best I can......if only it would stop feckin raining long enough ![]() ![]() |

Unplug the relay and bridge the orange/white and purple/white wires, this will give you a solid feed to the lamps for testing purposes. |
