Quite a newbie to Buells and this forum, but I wondered if anyone could help. I've covered about 1000 trouble free miles on my 07 Uly, but touring Scotland over the weekend it suddenly started to have all the symptoms of running on one cylinder (I'm a long term Guzzi owner!). It refuses to run at less than 2000rpm and is a pig to start. Over 2k revs it seems to run fine, and I managed the 200 miles home ok, but what a dog in traffic! I gave the bike a full service when I bought it, including iridium plugs. The bikes done 13000 miles. |

Was it wet/raining? I've had similar symptons in the past when absolutely pissing down but after a while it cleared up. I seem to recall it never occurred after I had the wiring loom replaced (long story, don't ask) under warranty but can't swear to that. Water getting into the electrics/ignition system somewhere I'd say. Clive |

I've ordered new plug leads today as I'm going to try a plug change again anyway. A visit to ![]() |

I've removed the coil and leads and have found the front HT lead is almost worn through to the core against the cylinder head. Maybe a bit of rain was all it needed to short out. New leads on order and I hope that cures the problem. Just as an aside, the previous owner has fitted a Dobeck Performance TFI fueller www.dobeckperformance.com This is designed to add fuel at low throttle and help with pick up. I have the set up instructions, but whatever the settings on the pots it doesn't seem to make much difference. Would you advise removing this, as it just seems to double or even treble the connections round the injectors? In my opinion the more wiring you have in this area, the more potential for faults to develop. |

just removed a Kitech device (same shit different name ) from my uly, did the breather mod and changed plugs whilst air box base was off also put heat reflective tape on air box base . point being after a run to settle things down and recal AFV, runs better low revs ![]() Bikeralw wrote: as it just seems to double or even treble the connections round the injectors? makes perfect sense you got a v twin with air box above the v and heat rises so going to get warm there (warm air less Dense so less power) pash thinking about getting lambda fitted on front pipe (06 uly) is the 08 front lambda sensor wiring long enough to reach 06 main loom lambda connector and are the connectors the same ie not handed front ,rear . or have i got to cut, extend and splice wiring |

Wire is not long enough, however no need to splice, make a slave harness. Connectors are readily available. |

AFV? Bit new to all this terminology. I've just removed this fueller wiring and I noticed the rubber cap on the small pipe on the inlet stack had all but disintegrated. I don't know what this vacuum take off point is for, but I can see without a cap it will let air in and weaken the mixture especially at tickover. |

sound like you found the problem just needs new blanking cap ![]() AFV the lambda sensor samples the exhaust gas and check's remaining oxygen content , it then checks the fuel map whilst you are in closed loop lean area and can adjust the mixture for the whole map , AFV 100% as per map AFV 110% 10% more fuel across whole map (tickover to flat out ) please see link http://www.ecmspy.com/index.shtml ps if you don't reset AFV to 100% after fitting new cap bike will run rich untill warm and ridden in closed loop lean area and it has re-adjusted itself . |
