Post subject:  '09 Uly cut out

Just had the Uly grind to a halt.
I had been stuck in heavy traffic for a while this morning (ie very hot). When the traffic cleared I turned right onto a side road and the bike immediately cut out. It will not restart - it seems to fire once then dies.

Any ideas. I'm sure I've read something like this before but can't find anything similar using search.
Bank angle sensor?

Thanks for any help.
Cheers
Simon

Thanks Kev, it was the fuel pump fuse...... looks like I'll be getting my hands dirty soon.
I wish I'd read this before pushing the bike home........... I usually like living on top of a hill but in today's heat.....!

The 10v spare was a non-original fuse so I guess I'm not the first to have this problem. I've done about 4k miles on it with no problem (the bike has less than 5.5k on it) - I thought the wire chaffing problems were limited to early bikes.

I read a number of reports in the german forum, that 10Amp fuel pump fuses fail in hot weather, but 15Amp fuses seemingly don't. I also seem to remember, that 2008 models had 15Amp installed be default. Perhaps someone could verify this by having a look at the wiring scheme.

Just had a look at Badweb and there are plenty of tales of hot weather failures of this fuse.
There were some pictures of fuse boxes that certainly had a 15amp fuse in the same position as my '09 - but the box could be different and/or the fuse changed at a later date.

I've seen the write-ups about chaffing wires on early bikes. I would imagine that if I had that kind of problem the I would end up with much more persistent fuse blowing. I'll stick a few extra spares under the seat and see how I go.

The fuel pump fuse has blown 4 times in the last 6k miles on my 09 Uly, usually when slowing down with a low fuel level.Badweb suggests a batch of bad pumps used on 09 bikes, but did over 400 miles last weekend on possibly some of the hottest days we will experience this year and never had a problem so will leave it for now.
