Hi all . Recently purchased a '99 X1 . Bike runs fine except for ' holding on ' to the revs at 2000rpm for a couple of seconds before they drop as normal . Any ideas / info appreciated .

Hi Rolo
Thought you had given up on Buells after selling your tidy S1.
Had this problem on a couple of XB,s after resetting the TPS.
Try backing off the throttle stop screw just a smidge that might cure it, or could be something else ie:air leak on the intake, but try that first.
I,m sure someone else on here will come back with a better suggestion,
Good luck : ;)

had same on my uly
then read this
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14418
and changed deceleration correction % and region
but first be critical of what you want ? how much deceleration /engine braking
and when you want the fuel to start flowing again and resume normal engine running.
had about 3 goes at adjusting and settled on this
adjusted mine from 96% to 75% deceleration correction
and regions changed from
old new
1600 0 1450 0
1650 19 1500 19
2950 19 2950 19
3000 23 3500 23

I never heard before about X1 having this problem, but about many XB. I would check for an intake leak first, then do a TPS reset. If the engine still hangs at 2000 rpm it might help to reduce spark advance significantly - about half the original value - in that column (cells marked by a red square):

I had good results doing this change with XB.
