I seem to have a rattle/knocking from the primary on my Uly. I only noticed this the other week and so adjusted the primary chain However it's still there. I'll check my adjustment again, but otherwise any idea what this rattle/knocking might be? Watch the video and you'll see the noise if definitely from the primary side |

Can't access the vid here ....could it be a loose crank nut ??? need to get it checked asap if it is before it destroys the crank splines . |

Hmm... ok, so primary cover off, lock the sprockets (somehow) and tighten the nut to new torque settings, with Locktite... in a nutshell... That might be within my personal 'do-able' range I assume I'l need a new gasket when I remove the primary cover. |

I reckon that's a loose crank nut ?.......you will need a new nut and industrial strength locktite (even though the new nut will be patchlocked) and a mega torque wrench. A home made paper gasket wont last 5 mins........these gaskets are laminated aluminium for a reason

So I'm doing this bit then... See Figure 6-34. Install the engine sprocket nut. a. Install SPROCKET LOCKING LINK (Part No. HD-38362). b. Apply two or three drops of LOCTITE 272 (red) onto threads of sprocket shaft. c. Install engine sprocket nut. Tighten to 190-210 ft-lbs (257.6-284.7 Nm). Should/can I buy the SPROCKET LOCKING LINK or any handy DIY alternatives? |

Big brass door hinge can be used to lock the transmission. Yourguitarhero posted a how to for something behind the primary cover. It shows the hinge in action... |

Don't ride it until it's sorted. Triumph Saints used to suffer from that with the Police spec rotor, but once you heard the noise, it was too late, your crank bearings were history. If you've not got a torque wrench that goes that high, get a steel bar 240' long and a 1lb weight

A strip of 6x25mm ali will do to lock up your sprockets.
