Exhaust valve motor is connected there. 2002 and 2003 models had an ECM with no connector between the sockets, as XB9 do not have the exhaust valve motor installed.

I think the spade connector is on both 9 and 12 harnesses from 2004 onwards but the 3 pin Deutsch connector under the seat, which connects to the motor, has a rubber bung fitted on the 9.

I am guessing your ECM and harness are not the correct match, the injectors changed in 2004 (they became directional and squirted down the port rather than on the manifold wall) and the CB060 (early) and GB231/IB310 (later) have different maps to match. Either will work, the AFV will compensate.

What year is your bike?

Is there anything written in the ECM? BUEGB231 or BUEIB310?

2002 model ECM: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Buell-XB12-Stand ... g~~_12.JPG
2004 model ECM: http://www.motorrad-technik-maass.de/mt ... p=1224_060

couldn't find a 2003 model ECM, looks like a 2002 one, but bottom label ends with "CB060" instead of "CB050".

the ECM has two bar codes on it with the following numbers on a green background No326 IRA 04081 BX1EC21 GB 231 and 496 on the black socket does this help

Yes but the AFV will look funny cos it is meant to run with different injectors.

Ideally you want a 2002 ECM...

Was the ECM fitted to the bike ever? It is not the correct ECM for the year of engine (it could actually be one from a 12).

It will have maps in with a shorter injector duration to work with higher flow injectors.

You will probably need to do a TPS reset anyway, whilst you are at it you could load some new maps which I can send you, to work better with your injectors.

But yes it will work, assuming it came off a 9...
