Us Blastards have always found the factory torque specs to be too tight. What we do: 1. Warm the bike up, 1/2 hour ride minimum. 2. Park bike and leave idling for the following. 3. Back out the tensioning bolt until it feels loose and about to fall out. 4. Tighten tensioner bolt by hand until you feel it just barely make tension on the tensioner shoe. 5. Back it out until that tension stops. 6. Tighten the lock nut. You don't want constant over-tension on the chain. The spring loaded tensioner shoe provides plenty of tension on the chain. The bolt is there to keep the shoe from bouncing too much and letting the chain hit the case. It's better to be too loose than too tight. |
