Done a search, still unsure... I assume I should be ordering only originals from HD (BB) and not of eBay even though they say they will fit?

i have replaced standard head stock bearings with taper roller bearings, no problem the replacements are wider to take into account the up stand on the centre race. love um

Same part number as for tubers, see Useful Info in How To.

Issues off the top of my head are:

1. Pre loading them - you will need some studding and top hats or washers
2. Sealing - the 'sealed' ones you buy on line are meant to fit into a tube hence sealing cicumferentially. For an XB installation, I am not sure there is sufficient depth to do this.

Willybuell has an alternative with bigger balls than stock. I have a set that I will use on my Uly when the time comes.

lOl Sorry, really had to smirk when I read that. From the posts I've read from WillyB, that's true in a number of ways.

Are XB, Ulysses steering bearings the same as 1125?

If so without making a new carrier how do you fit taper races?

Funny looking bearings never seen anything quite so complicated for such a simple job.

On the write off 1125,the bottom bearing has had the "tophat" lip broken clean off. Steering stem looks like an ss s. :)

the only reason 1125 bearing are like they are is so you HAVE to buy from HD .i bought one a year ago to look at an alternative .gave in in the end .there not worth the hassel to copy
