Hello, a bit of advice nedied if you don't mind old Chums. The owners destruction manual for my 2001 X1 says Spark plugs HD 10R12. Things may have moved on a bit in the last 12 years. Does anyone have any recomendations for an alternative make or number ? Cheers, Mick. |

Cheers. Does anyone know what the last letter of the code denotes? I suppose the 10R12A is an upgrade from the stock 10R12, and the 10R12X an upgrade from 10R12A ? Looks like I missread the plug I took out of the rear cylinder then, must have been 6R12. Thanks again. ![]() |

X has a rib on the insulator to help resist surface discharge when fouled. |

......although, IME it actually promotes surface discharge when fouled because it gives the centre electrode a shorter path to the plugs body ![]() |

My mate recently asked me to do a service on his Harl*y XR (the new tarted up Sportster, not the genuine one ![]() ![]() When it came to the plugs, I was very surprised that he'd been sold the old 'soft' plugs they used to fit to Sporty etc. These run a fair bit hotter than the recommended ones (same as Buells) and can cause a lot of damage. I've been told that Dealers were instructed to bin these plugs some time ago ![]() I told my mate to return them and send my best wishes to the Dealer Principl(e). Shame he can't spell his own job description on their Website ![]() |
