Got the old crank out and i am going to bite the bullet and put a new one in. When rebuilding does the new crank have to be matched to the main bearings or can it just be assembled and then the two crankcases halves fitted together and torqued up ? |

Pinion bearing side needs to be measured to within 0.0002'' (read the zeros) and then the outer race lapped to size before selecting the correct size of needle race.......in other words, deffo not a DIY job ! |

I did one once, Maz helped with the pinion bearing. If he doesn't mind helping, would be worth the cash and trip. If I were you I would let him put the cases back together too, there is at least one cheeky challenge for you there. |

Don't think there is anything secret, all in the manual, but this could be easily forgotten for example: Attachment: You don't necessarily need the special tool (easier), a deep socket will suffice. |

I seem to remember the trojan race bike had broken cases because of that point being missed a few years ago ![]() |

Wasn't the detent that broke trojans cases.......there's a spacer on the gearbox mainshaft that needs special attention .......it isnt mentioned in the manual ![]() |
