right just spoke to alister at SEP kegworth ,cost of a referb including new pin n races in the con rods and new rollers is around 250 squid with postage on top of course ,they have been around over 30 years nuff said ....give um a call :yup: :D :D http://www.sep-kegworth.co.uk/page1.htm

Wonder what the choice of new rods is (if you need them). S&S? Carrillo?

Maybe they could make a bigger pin.

Carrillo do some, although this page is a little confusing talking about 1.25" diameter but listing 1.5" diameter.

And our chum ericz has had his crank rebuilt by Darkhorse Crankworks, details here

Obviously, cranks weigh an arm and a leg, so shipping to the US and back is going to be expensive.

I've used them too. Highly recommended, proper old school. Repaired a cylinder head for me at a very fair price some time ago. I've got a stink-wheel crank for them to sort for me when I get round to it.

not poss to fit a bigger pin in the standerd rods nowere near enough meat in the big end :sad1: :sad1: ,have found through moss eng though that a company near roger moss make rods to you spec :D :D ,some leg work needed here :yup:

It's not clear from my borrowed PC if Carrillo do rods for a '9'. :?

Love the look of that crank by Darkhorse.....I want one! 8-)

Not seen any rods for a 9, but Carrillo will make specials.

The dark horse crank of ericz is an 08/09/10 model. I am wondering whether 00/01/02/03/04/05/06/07 crank webs can be bored to suit a bigger pin and use the same rods. Would save you having to buy a whole new crank and a new generator rotor.

Most things can be done , just depends on how deep your pockets are .
One off machining cost or specials, a hell of a lot of time is spent on the set up or making jigs and fixtures to hold the item.
The drilling or boring the hole in the right place at the right angle and right size is the easy bit once set up correctly, still a nervous time on an irreplaceable item

If Carrillo can make special rods then (and if you have the money) why not bore out the pin location slightly offset to stroke the motor a bit then have correspondingly shorter rods for your 9?.....my earlier plan to stretch the XB motor nearer to being square! ;) An XB10+? 8-)
