Evining all. Can any one help out with a problem with my X1. Started it today and was ticking over fine till it got up to temperature then started to sound a bit missy and rough tick over, it wouldnt take partial throttle and sounded like it was spitting back into the air filter. When it was coaxed into revving it picked up and sounded ok but when allowed to tick over went back to having a flat spot and sounding missy. Ive been starting it at least every 2 weeks during the winter and it has had new leads, fresh fuel and the plugs seem fine. Any thoughts or advice is welcome.

Check the fuel pressure.

Hi again, fuel pressure appears to be ok at 47psi, TPS reset to 5.3 (was 5.1) AFV seems really high at 121 but I dont seem to have a function tab to let me go in and reset to 100. Any suggestions where I find it or enable it? would this give me my problem of running fine till it warms up then splutter and cough till it cuts out and then not restart till it cools. Sorry for the novice questions !!

Don't know if this would show up on fault codes but there's nothing there saying ets fault.

Call me old fashioned, but the best way to do it is to log some data cos more important than what the sensor is giving is what the ECM is reading...

Could be a O/C or S/C that only appears when running.

The manual may tell you what the resistance should be in boiling water.

Not all together sure how to log data pash mate but I did take pics and this is where I got the afv of 121 from and when I read up on how to change it it said click function tab and enter 100 but I don't seem to have a function tab, any ideas?

Not specifically Buell but....

If the sensor has one wire, attach a test meter with an audible continuity test function to the wire and the other side of the meter to the body of the sensor, heat the sensor and when it comes up to temp it will complete the circuit and the meter will give you an audible beeping noise. Some sensors will work the other way round and you will get the beeping from the start and when the sensor gets to temp it will stop.
Then you will need an infra-red or other such heat gun to take the temp of the end of the sensor you have just warmed up.
If the sensor has two just connect the meter to the two wires and do the same.

If the sensor is ferked then you will get no change.

You don't need to change the AFV, the ECM will decide what it should be.

Check your rear plug is tight, and in good condition.

To log data, you just click on the keys, and then click on the disc.

The ECMSpy will log data and store it in c:\program files\ecmspy\megalog

If you are using Vista or 7 or something like that (I am an XP fogie) you will need to set permissions.

Then, when you have the file, email it me and I will plot it out, or plot it out yourself in Excel or MegaLogViewer.

Best to do it with the engine ticking over, let it warm up and then make it misbehave. Then click the disc and stop logging.

Just had a look lash and it appears I've done it without knowing! But it just looks like a bunch of numbers diving all over the place, is there anything I should be looking for bearing in mind I have no fault codes and just fitted 2 New plugs. I suspect it may be time to start changing things if I can't change the afv manually :|
