OK folks , can any of you AST owners confirm which is rebound and which is compression damping on these?
Looks like Muffins is in need of a rebuild which is a bit of a dissapointment as it has lasted less time and milage than the original Showa shock if it does
Appears to have lost it's damping so going to have a play with adjusters today before sending it for a rebuild if needed .............. my instructions say that the two adjusaters on the remote are high and low speed REBOUND .............I've heard people say that some of the instructions were printed wrong so just trying to confirm which adjuster is which.

Smaller is low speed rebound, larger is high speed. At least thats what Ronnie explained to me when we were playing around with my set up for the speed trail around the cones at Lauwe a couple of years back. Just confirmed by digging out instructions.

ps. mine was fitted with a new seal after a couple of thousand miles and is begining to look like it may need doing again, no effect on handling so far.

Checked it this morning and it definitely needs rebuilding as the main seal looks like it's gone so Muffin the pogo stick had to stay at home today whilst the Cr got the ride out to sunny skeggy for Lunch ........... luckily the seat to pillion footrest distance is about the same as the X1 as the girlfriend can only just get on at the moment seeing as it's less than four weeks since she had a new hip fitted ............... she struggled a bit more getting on the Cr though as therear end sits 2" higher than Muffin

It was me that commented on the instructions being arse about face. It was set up almost perfectly out of the box. Unexpected things started to happen when I had a fiddle with the settings and I could make no sense of it. A quick phone call to Ronnie sorted it all out. Subsequent shocks had the correct info

30k sound ok to me
With the state of the roads today that’s a lot of bouncy bouncy or compression and rebound and nothing last forever.
At a cost new of about £1000 divided by 30,000 km = just over 3 pence per km for having an AST sounds like good value for money

Muffin lasted over 30k on it's Showa before a huge pothole on the M25 popped it's seal it lasted just over 7 years .
