Looking to upgrade my master cylinder and at the same time reduce the lever travel a bit. I would like to use a Brembo radial but the smallest size is a 16mm cylinder will this be too much of an increase ? I am happy with the braking power but not the amount of lever travel and I am aware this is a trade off so don't want to overdo it. Does anyone have any experience of experimenting with other cylinders with the standard caliper ? |

Does anyone have any experience of experimenting with other cylinders with the standard caliper ? I've put one off a ZX7 Kwak on mine, not had chance to test the feel on the road yet, although with the CRG lever it's VERY grabby, don't think there will be much feel as it's only feeding one 6-pot caliper, but that suits me as I like minimal feel and distance on my front brake (yeah, I know that's a bit odd) Biggest issue was the fact the brake pipe is underneath exactly where the buell XB throttle cables run... I had to remove the push cable for mine to be ok. I also had to remove the plastic plug on the brake switch and just put a bit of shrink wrap over the wires Your brake pipe probably wont fit right either as the pipe is 90degrees different angle and a bit further towards the throttle... Here's a link to a couple of pics: http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t361/drzsimon/Buell/IMAG2714_zps0423d4fc.jpg http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t361/drzsimon/Buell/IMAG2713_zps66c0b43b.jpg http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t361/drzsimon/Buell/IMAG2624_zps1558e595.jpg http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t361/drzsimon/Buell/IMAG2618_zps569be60b.jpg I can take some more if you want any specific ones Simon |

Sounds promising...Nice looking bike....my brake caliper is the earlier 6 pot on the X1 so not sure if the results will be the same. Thought there might be more conversation on the subject although most folk are not really using their brakes that much it seems. Perhaps I should have posted in Buell chat? |

I am quite happy with the standard type, less claptrap hanging around the bars... You could use a 5/8 master cylinder off a 97 bike or Triumph if you wanted to keep the look of the bike. |
