Post subject: | Belt Tensioner Bearings |
I fitted a free spirtit tensioner about 600 miles ago. I changed the tensiored bearing (SKF 6203-2RS as suggested by pash) and at the same replaced the rear wheel bearings. Whilst pushing the bike to park up I noticed the bearings clicking. I am on my way to pick up some more today and replace tonight. I followed the FS installation instructions when fitting and I am a bit confused as to why they have gone so quickly. Is it a simple case of mis alignment or could there be another reason for the bearing failing so quickly? |

Are you 100% sure it is the bearings? |

Now that I have taken the tensioner off and checked them I am 100% sure it's not the tensioner bearings. No play in them at all. As I rebuild bike I turned the rear wheel to see what was rubbing (should have done it stipping it, I know) nothing came to light and everything spins free and easy. I did however get to clean and bits of the bike I don't usually. Get to lub the tensioner bearings and check the drive belt. I also have a spare set of tensioner bearings which in theory will only go up in value. Thanks yet again pash. I was desperate to solve the problem as I plan alot of miles in the next few weeks. |

You said you followed the FS fitting instructions, if so then it aint fitted properly as they are bollox .....if however, you followed the guide in the 'How to' section, then all should be good ? |
